Information we use

Please do not put passwords or unnecessary sensitive information in support reports.

Purposes and legal bases

We use account and learning information to provide your authorised access, save progress and respond to service requests under our contract with you. We use proportionate support, security and fault information for our legitimate interests in operating and protecting Linkword. We also retain information where necessary to meet legal obligations or handle legal claims.

Optional notifications are controlled by your choice and Android permission. You can withdraw that choice in Learning settings or Android's notification settings. Where consent is required for processing or device storage, we rely on that consent; essential storage supports the service you request. We do not sell personal information or use it for behavioural advertising.

Information on your device

The app stores sign-in session information using Android protected storage. Display preferences, notification choices and installation information are stored locally. Progress awaiting a connection is kept on your device for synchronisation. Show password changes the field's visibility; it does not save the password as a preference.

Services and transfers

Supabase provides authentication, database, course-file storage and server functions. Linkword's production Supabase project is in Ireland. Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers optional Android notifications and uses delivery tokens and Firebase installation identifiers. Its automatic initialisation is disabled until notification registration is enabled; Firebase Analytics is not enabled in this app.

Flag images are requested from flagcdn.com, a Flagpedia service hosted on Cloudflare. Its operator receives your IP address and request information when serving an image. Linkword does not send it your account email or saved learning record. If you choose Share memory picture, Android passes the selected course text to the app or recipient you choose.

Linkword's email service handles account-recovery email and support correspondence. Providers may process information outside the UK, including on Google's global infrastructure. Applicable provider terms include data-processing and international-transfer safeguards. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

Retention and notification choices

We retain information for as long as necessary for its purpose. We consider account access, restoring learning, support needs, security, legal duties, disputes and rights requests. Information no longer needed is deleted or anonymised; backup copies may remain until the applicable backup cycle overwrites them.

Disabling notifications or signing out stops delivery to the current registration. It does not automatically erase earlier consent, installation or delivery records, or delete your Linkword account. Notification expiry controls whether a message can be delivered; it is not a deletion deadline. Removing the app does not automatically delete server-held account data.

Deletion and your rights

You can request deletion of your Linkword account and associated personal information by emailing contact@linkwordlanguages.com. Include the email address used for your account and describe the request; do not send your password. The support team may ask for information needed to verify your identity. Some information may need to be retained for legal, security or other lawful reasons, which we will explain where applicable.

You may also request access, correction, restriction, portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or withdraw consent where applicable. These rights depend on the circumstances. Contact our support team with a privacy complaint. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app, its services or legal requirements change. Material changes will be brought to your attention where required.
